Are there basic security rules I can use today?

Yes! There are some security fundamentals that every computer owner and Internet user should never forget.

  1.  Back it Up! – Some of your photos and files are probably irreplaceable.  Sending regular backups to the cloud or an external storage device is an easy way to ensure that you don’t lose the things that are important to you.  We can help you set up regular backups to protect your data today.
  2. Updates Matter! – Computers and devices are designed to get regular updates that add features and improve security for your PC or tablet.  In addition to automatic updates, your devices may have drivers that need to be patched manually. Our skilled technicians can help with that.
  3. Long Passwords are Key! – Hackers love when people use short passwords.  With modern hacking technology, the old rules about using a complex mix of letters, numbers, and symbols are obsolete. Now days, length is key.  Every letter or number you add to a password makes it exponentially harder to hack.  Something like M14!e%3 is no more safe than using mailbox as your password.  Choose a longer phrase you can remember and you will be safer.  A simple but long password like ChocolateDonutsAreAwesome! would take decades for a modern hacker to guess by chance.

Our Cybersecurity class covers all that and much more.

My computer is slow, do I need a new one?

Maybe, but maybe not! A RAM upgrade and moving from a mechanical hard drive to a new Solid-State Drive (SSD) can breathe new life into your computer. We can take a look at your existing system and let you know if this low-cost option would be good for you.

In addition to the services listed on the site, we are ready to help with anything computer or network related that you need a hand with today.
